Summer, 2020-Family, The Great Outdoors, & A Lot of Cooking!

Once our family muddled through Spring, 2020 a time of such challenging and extraordinary times, we realized that we wouldn't be taking one single thing for granted for some length of time to come.  Therefore, the virtues of patience and understanding, and taking one day at a time were all pieces of our daily schedules.

Mid-June, once our grandson Charlie's school year ended, we headed to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina for a week of family fun with our son, Ryan and his wife, Stephanie.  Our dear friends who have opened their home in Kitty Hawk to us for the past ten years, once again welcomed us with open arms.  Much of the public parks, beautiful monuments, and attractions, and restaurants/eateries that we had so enjoyed in years past, were closed due to COVID-19.  The beautiful and mysterious beaches of OBX were open, and so off we walked, hiked, and explored for hours on end.  Time flew by, and our week spent at our wonderful friend's home, "Pelican Cove" in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina was the best.

For the remainder of Summer, 2020 we nested in our home in Hayesville, North Carolina located in Western North Carolina, home of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Lake Chatuge.  This area has been home to our family since the early 1980's, when my parents first settled in Clay County.  Times were simple for us this summer, and it was the great outdoors that brought both entertainment and relief for our family.  Long mountain walks with our dog Mila, multiple household projects, swimming and boating in Lake Chatuge, and spending time with The Wilson Family, our relatives who traveled from London, Ohio to visit with us, all made for a keepsake of a summer!

Included with my words are some snapshots of Summer, 2020.

Most grateful,

Glenna
