A Meal with a Dear Friend

Sharing a meal with my dear friend, and illustrator of several of my book titles is always such a good time.  Today, at the Mount Vernon Inn, Alexandria Virginia, Jennifer and myself were able to enjoy a delicious lunch, and spend time with the likes of the lovely Martha Washington and members of George Washington's Continental Army.  For years and years, our family has enjoyed visiting Mount Vernon Plantation and exploring the beautiful grounds, the extraordinary structures, and learning history from the finest docents.  As an educator for over 15 years in Fairfax County Public Schools, field trips to Washington's Plantation was always a traditional part of our annual school wide curriculum.  I hope that an adventure is on the horizon for yourself, your family, and your friends, to visit the one and only home place of the first president of our grand United States of America, George Washington.
